How to use the WAV to MP3 converter

  1. Choose one or more .wav files — from a recorder, DAW, phone or CD rip.
  2. Select the MP3 bitrate; tick mono for voice recordings.
  3. Download the MP3s — typically 5–10× smaller than the WAV.

WAV is uncompressed: one minute of CD-quality stereo takes about 10 MB. MP3 at 192 kbps needs only 1.4 MB for the same minute, which makes recordings easy to e-mail, upload and keep on your phone. Sample rates from 8 to 48 kHz are kept; unusual rates are resampled to 44.1 kHz automatically.
