How to use the duplicate file finder

  1. Click Choose a folder (or select files) — your browser asks for permission to read it.
  2. Files are compared by size first and then by a SHA-256 fingerprint of their content.
  3. Review the groups of identical files and delete the extra copies in your file manager.

Duplicate photos, downloads and backups quietly eat disk space. Because files are compared by content, copies are found even when they have different names. Nothing is uploaded and the page has no permission to delete or change anything — it only reads the files to compute fingerprints. Works best in Chrome, Edge and Firefox on desktop.
