How to use the dead pixel test

  1. Clean the screen and click Start full-screen test.
  2. Look carefully at the whole screen on every colour — click to switch colours.
  3. Note any dot that never changes. Press Esc when finished.

Check a new monitor, TV, phone or laptop within the return period, or before buying a second-hand device. Dead pixels (always black) usually cannot be fixed; stuck pixels (always red, green or blue) sometimes recover after gently massaging the spot or running a fast colour-cycling video for a while.
