How it works: every page is re-drawn as an optimised image. Best for scans and photo-heavy PDFs; text in the result is no longer selectable.
🔒 100% private — processing happens in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
How to use the compress PDF tool
- Choose a PDF — scans, photo albums and presentations shrink the most.
- Pick a compression level and optionally grayscale.
- Click Compress and download the smaller file.
Large PDFs are often rejected by e-mail (Gmail and Outlook limit attachments to 20–25 MB) and by online forms for visas, job applications or college. Compressing re-renders each page at a sensible resolution with efficient JPEG encoding, which typically cuts scanned documents by 50–90%. If the original is mostly digital text, it may already be small — the tool tells you instead of making it bigger. Your file never leaves your device.
